Senior Inventory Specialist
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for maintaining the accuracy and material condition of all of the company’s manufacturing inventory. This includes Receiving, Raw Material Inventory, WIP, Finished Goods, and Shipping. Additional responsibilities include administering the cycle count program with justification of significant variances.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Maintain inventory accuracy and material condition through proper handling and storage techniques in all areas (Receiving, Raw Material Inventory, WIP, Finished Goods, and Shipping).
- Investigate and provide immediate feedback to management when inventory variances are found during routine cycle counts.
- Print and review sales orders, inventory on hand, plant-capacity and shipping information, including ship dates.
- In conjunction with Plant Manager, review reports and resolve bottlenecks to meet production deadlines/customer due dates.
- Identify and implement efficiency/cost saving opportunities.
- Maintain good working relationships and communications with sales, purchasing and manufacturing to aid in efficient flow of work.
- Work closely with Plant Manager and Product Control Planner for direction/procedure to handle nonstandard inventory issues.
- Assist purchasing in order quantities and schedules as needed.
- Assist in procedure development and/or revision as necessary.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by management.
- Occasional overtime may be required as business needs dictate.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Related College Degree preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years related experience in Receiving, Inventory Control, and Shipping processes. Syteline or industry standard MRP experience preferred. HAZMAT certification international shipping experience or training. Supervisory experience preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Well organized.
Basic Inventory accounting principles.
Highly motivated and dependable.
Good interpersonal/team skills.

Windows based computer skills.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
COMMUNICATION:
Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas clearly while maintaining positive working relationships across departments.
HEARING:
Ability to perceive and understand spoken communication and auditory information in the work environment.
REPETITIVE MOTION:
Regular use of a computer, including typing and mouse operation, involving frequent hand, wrist, and finger movements such as grasping and handling objects.
VISION:
Visual capability sufficient to read, review, and prepare documents, and to operate standard office equipment.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
Role generally involves a combination of seated and active work, including periods of sitting (approximately 1–2 hours per day) and standing or walking (approximately 6–7 hours per day).
WORKING CONDITIONS
Machine shop environment that is well lit and ventilated with mechanical noise caused by punch presses, air cylinders and other machine shop equipment.
