- Unit will not strip wires
- Ensure wire gauge being stripped is within unit’s specifications.
- Adjust speed to higher setting.
- Check for dull or damaged blades and replace head if necessary with stripping head.
- Check that all 3 blades meet at the same location when closed.
- Check for debris in stripping head and motor.
- Check to ensure operator is not removing wire too quickly.
- Unit cuts wire.
- Adjust speed of the power unit to lower setting.
- Ensure wire gauge being stripped is within unit’s specifications.
- Check operator technique to ensure that wire is being withdrawn quickly enough.
- Check that all 3 blades meet at the same location when closed.
- Check that wire is free of kinks and bends
- Blades grab wire.
- Adjust speed of the power unit to a lower setting.
- Check for debris in stripping head and motor.
- Replace head.
- Check operator technique to insure smooth, even withdrawal of conductor.
- Too much conductor being removed.
- Adjust speed of the power unit to lower setting.
- Check operator technique to ensure wire is being withdrawn quickly enough.
- Check that all 3 blades meet at the same location when closed. (For all models)
- Motor does not run.
- Check that all connections are made properly. (Handpiece is plugged into transformer, and transformer is plugged into proper power supply.)
- Check fuse in power unit and replace if blown.
- Check motor brushes.
- Check motor switch
- Motor runs slowly.
- Check that voltage setting on power unit is properly set.
- Check for debris in head, and clean.
- Check motor for free rotation. Replace worn bearings.
